Ski Areas For Sale

The oldest continuous operating ski area in Oregon is now for sale.  The owner is retiring but he has spent many years getting this ski area in great shape.  They have two double lifts, one to the top (680' vertical) and one beginner.  The ski area has LMC 3700 snowcats, several buildings and a growing customer base.  All maintenance is up to date on the buildings, lifts and snowcats.  .

• Hesperus Ski Area in SW Colorado $425,000
This small ski area near Durango, CO has been providing beginner to expert terrain to skiers for several decades from Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.  The ski area includes a lodge, ski patrol building, several other small buildings, a double chairlift with a mid way unload station with service to the top, a handle tow for the beginners and a double chairlift that is ready to install for a new beginners areas.  Lights cover nearly the entire hill and summer grooming allows this ski area to open with a marginal amount of snow.  It is entirely on private land through a lease with a local rancher.  Two snowcats included.

• Utah Ski area is looking for one or preferably two 8 wheel CTEC Thiokol lift tower complete assemblies.  We don’t need the sheave wheels themselves, but all other components (8 wheel beam & main axle; 2 quad beams & axes; 4 two wheel forks/beams & axles) are needed.

• Hedco operators manual - operation and maintenance manual for a Hedco H-2d snowmaker circa 1979? this packet also includes the VW industrial engine information. This information needs a good home. • 2001 and 2002 SMI Wizards Seven of these guns are available in Utah, have around 3000 hours and are in good shape.  $8000 each (Photos when the snow melts)

• SMI standard Polecats, towers, 1998 model year, around 300 hours each, very low use, Utah, $10,000 each (Photos when the snow melts)

• HKD Spectrums 40' low energy towers, Six available, Utah, make offer (Photos when the snow melts)

• Portable Snowmaking pumps - CHS Snowmakers has two portable snowmaking pumps, both are 3 phase 480 volts.  
First pump is a direct drive 25 HP pump with a flat flow curve, about 100 psi at 100 to 300 gpm, rebuilt in 2007, includes control panel and cord and fittings $3000.
Second pump is a vertical 15 HP pump, 88 gpm at 200 psi (or so), with starter, cord and fittings, rebuilt in December 2007, 50 hours or so since rebuild $2950. (pictured)  This one has been mounted in a small trailer for easy transport on the hill.  Use this pump to boost your pressure for low energy guns and even fan guns.

• Used track belting and 30' irrigation pipe.  Pipe dimensions are 1.5", 2" and 2.5" with 1" FNPT sprinkler connections.  This would be ideal for reveg of slopes, snowmaking with the Cornice II snowmakers or running a water line for a long distance for snowmaking.  $35 a stick located in CO.  These items are under several feet of snow and will be available after the snow melts.

• Brand new US Electrical Motors 350 HP, 3 phase, 460 volts, 383 amps, 3575 RPM's, 3700 pounds electric motor for vertical snowmaking pump located in Pennsylvania.  This pump was ordered for a ski area and it fell through.  This motor retails for $30,000, save money and it can ship quickly for $25,000.

• Hedco World Machines - Midwest ski area has 3 machines, all on self contained DMC snowcats, all you have to provide is fuel and water. Two in very good working condition and third is being used for parts (mostly complete).  One machine was put in service in 1995 and asking $45,000.  Each machine can flow up to 750 gpm and minimum psi about 250.  Great for building ice roads or building that super pipe or monster jump.

• Hedco Electric Standards - Midwest ski area has 6 available all in working condition Sale pending, $4000 each.  They also have several SMI 320 Snowstream's available on wheeled chassis in good working condition.  Engine driven pictured.

• Air compressors and Ratnik and York snowmakers -  SoCal ski area turned off their air compressors a few years ago and have several large air compressors available, air cooling towers, 26 Ratnik Snow Giant II guns with sleds $750 each, 2 Ratnik II + II guns no sleds, $500 each, 79 York guns mid 90's models set up for automation and 3 K4 guns and 1 K1 gun.  Make offer on York and K guns.  See below for more details and photos.

• Zaugg 18' pipe cutter in CO.  PM49-70-540,  gewicht-1500kg,  s/n is 19389, 2002 model.  It needs an Angle Finder which averages in cost around $1,500 from Zaugg.

• 12' HPB pipe cutter - This cutter is in near new condition, only needs minor greasing.  R12HPG a 1997 or 1998.  The manual and parts book are included

• BR straight tillers in good condition, two available located in NM.  Good for XC trails, snowmobile trails and snocross tracks.  Make offer.

• 1978 LMC AC Allis Chalmers eng, good drive gear, cat is operational but tracks are in bad shape, working blade, no tiller or bar, make offer, Colorado
   

• Piston Bully snow cat available in OR, 1987 PB 270 is fairly good condition.  It was completely rebuilt in 1996 and used full time till 1999.  Since 1999 only a few hours a winter were put on.  Extra set of tracks.  Currently the electronics for the blade are having an issue, maybe a switch or two have gone bad.  $8,000 for all, seller is motivated or will trade for late 1980's LMC 3700 in working condition.  He also has two tri-flex tillers, the cat has not been retrofitted to fit them but both tillers are in very good shape.  Make offer on them, will sell separately.

• Pipe cutter - SoCal ski area has this cutter, it was only used for about a week a few years ago.  Blade mount needs to adapted for Piston Bully or BR cats.

CHS Snowmakers is looking for investors to open and operate a tubing hill and small terrain park in the Denver Metro Area.  Several locations to pick from with several million people in the Metro Area.  Snowmaking temperatures from November to March, snowfall averages 50" and snowmaking snow will last several weeks in the Denver Area even when temperatures reach 70° F.  Contact us for further details.
